وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ (سورة القمر:22)

And We have certainly made the Qur’an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?

Allah SWT send us the Noble Qur’an, to show us the right path, tell us what is right and wrong, what is Halal and Haram, and what we should learn from the stories of previous people, and to lead us to the happiness of this life and the Hereafter. In order to know and comprehend what is revealed to us in the Qur’an, we have to read it and understand its meanings.

This understanding might be possible through Tafseer and translation. However, the Holy Qur’an has a very special feature that is the very action of reading Qur’an is a worship itself, and the reading from the Book (Mushaf) The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah, he will be credited with a good deed, and a good deed gets a ten-fold reward. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is one letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter and Mim is a letter.”

Being able to read Qur’an is very important for any Muslim. Reading Qur’an is essential for prayers validity, and is a worship that gives us rewards from Allah SWT. When a Muslim make ablution (Wudu), hold the Holy Book (Mushaf) and read the verses they are given great rewards from Allah SWT for every act of them.  This reward is exclusive for reading the words of Qur’an unlike the translation or Tafseer. If you think it will be hard to learn to read Qur’an, you should remember that the reward is great and it is worth the long journey with Qur’an. The prophet Mohamed Peace Be upon Him said: “The one who is proficient in the recitation of the Qur’an will be with the honorable and obedient scribes (angels) and he who recites the Qur’an and finds it difficult to recite, doing his best to recite it in the best way possible, will have two rewards.”

Abu Umama said he heard Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) say:” Recite the Qur’an, for on the Day of Resurrection it will come as an intercessor for those who recite It.”
