Athkar and Dua’ Program

(سورة الرعد: 28) {الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَتَطْمَئِنُّ قُلُوبُهُم بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ ۗ أَلَا بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ}

(28:13) “Those who believe, and whose hearts find satisfaction in the remembrance of Allah: for without doubt in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find satisfaction.”

  Making Dua’ and reading Adhkar are very important for any Muslim. Beside the great reward for those worships, Dhikr and Dua’ keep you always connected to Allah SWT, they keep the Satan and bad thoughts away, they purify your soul and give your heart tranquility and peace.

Dhikr in Islam; the Meaning, Rewards and Benefits:

  Adhkar is the plural of Dhikr, an Arabic word that generally means to mention, but in Islamic context, Dhikr means to mention Allah SWT, to orally glorify and praise Allah. A Muslim day has some times and occasions where there are specific Adhkar to say or read. Such as waking up, going to bed, morning and evening, and more.

  However, Dhikr is a great worship that can be performed anytime and anywhere. If you are waiting someone, or you are in transportation, or having a break you can easily make good use of your time by glorifying Allah SWT and easily gain rewards. You definitely heard words like “Subhanallah, Alhamdulliah, Allahu Akbar, la hawl wla qowata ‘lla billah” these and more is what we mean by Dhikr. But have you ever thought what are their meanings?

  Adhkar are not the only easy worship to do anytime, there is Dua’ too. Dua’ means prayers and supplication. Dua’ is to ask Almighty Allah, the creator of the world, you can ask anything, no matter how big or small, and anytime, and have faith that Allah SWT hears you and will reward and help you for your Dua’.

{وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ} (سورة غافر: 60)

(60 :40) “And your Lord says: “Call on Me; I will answer your (Prayer)”

  Have you ever been in a situation where you visited someone for conciliation in a death or visited a patient or to congratulate for a new baby but didn’t know what exactly a Muslim is supposed to say in such a situation?  In Qur’an and Hadith there are a lot of Dhikr and Dua’ for many different daily situations and occasions, if you forget something and try to remember it, if a problem happens to you, if you like something you saw, if you wear something new, and much more.
